Who is Asha Chai-Chang...
Ashley "Asha" Chai-Chang is a multitalented, multilingual, multiethnic author, director, producer, humanitarian, and entrepreneur. She was born in October 1987 in Long Island, New York and raised in New York and Washington DC. Asha’s core ethnic background is comprised of Jamaican, Cuban, and Chinese cultures and is fluent in several languages.
Growing up Asha had great grace, ambition, confidence, intelligence, and creativity along with adrive to match. She studied dance in worldrenowned schools such as The Jofferey Ballet Schooland became a lead dancer in productions performed at venues such as The White House, TheNational Cathedral, and the Lincoln Theater as well as internationally.
She is an operatically trained contralto with a warm toned voice that ranges over five octaves who earned membershipwith the elite singers of the Watkins Mill Chamber Singers, singing songs in over 10 differentlanguages and performing with Grammy Award winning artists such as the Washington Chorus and The National Symphony Orchestra. She also became a published author in her teens by premiering poetry in the "Anthology of Poetry by Young Americans." Using her opera and dance training, as well as her natural abilities, she gained leading roles in theatrical productions such as"Oklahoma!", "Once Upon A Mattress", "The Vagina Monologues", and "The Rocky Horror Picture Show: LIVE!" She has been featured in television productions for several major television networks such as the USA Network's “Burn Notice”, Univision's "Premio Lo Nuestro", and NBC Universal/Telemundo's "La Voz Kids", as well as performing in sketch comedy, live performances, and both major motion and independent films.
Gaining extensive experience and demonstrating her leadership she became the Executive Director and Producer of her own television show, "The Talk Spot” and films like “The Queen of Spin” and "The Promotion". Simultaneous with her excellence in the arts, Asha completed her studies at Yale University and The University of Hartford, completed full-time working opportunities with Fortune 100 Companies such as United Technologies Corporation and The Hartford as well as Global Positioning Petroleum, LLC and CRG: Test America. Upon her completion of Political Science and Pre-Law studies at Yale University, she became the founder and president of a chapter of the Junior Statesmen of America. Through her ability to adapt to new challenges, creatively approach challenges, and to lead others, she was quickly granted more and more senior roles wherever she went. She graduated and assumed a director position at Global Positioning Petroleum, LLC to further hone her leadership skills.
She currently performs duties as Promotional Marketing Manager for companies such as Pepsi/ Mountain Dew, McDonald’s, Liberty Mutual, and Nintendo at both international and domestic events. Building off her successes, skills, leadership, and determination she formed her own Film Production and Event Planning company, Love My Productions, LLC as well as the Arts & Cultural nonprofit organization, Light of Enrichment, Inc. Through these organizations she has devoted herself to helping disadvantaged and underprivileged children and teens through the arts. Through Light of Enrichment, Inc, Asha utilizes art forms to showcase positive contribution of all cultures to aid individuals in learning self worth and appreciation of our differences. She believes that learning the value of our various cultures, contributions/ inventions, and experiences, we can gain respect for one another, and only through respect can we, the people, unify. Asha also supports and volunteers with other charitable organizations such as NFL Ambassadors, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Rebuilding Together, United Way, and Habitat for Humanity. She’s a Public Speaker and spokeswoman for antibullying/ suicide awareness for Yes! Institute. Attributable to her many talents, resourcefulness, experience, leadership, and determination, Asha is a successful and highly acclaimed entertainer and entrepreneur! As a humanitarian, her non-profit organization, Light of Enrichment, Inc sponsors and organizes the “Gift of Art Gala” for which the proceeds go to benefit children that aspire to express themselves through the arts. Asha also supports and volunteers as/with: NFL Ambassador, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Rebuilding Together, Habitat for Humanity, Miss Universe pageants.
